Dear Student we are going to write a paragraph on Global Warming.

 Global Warning

Hints: Rising temperature of world -- Green house effect -- Rise in water level -- Global awareness -- Protecting ozone layer -- Afforestation.

    The greatest fear that scares the world today is global worming. By the term 'Global Warming' we mean the annual increase the average temperature of the earth by a small margin. This may apparently seem little, But in reality, it is enough to cause havoc to our planet. This is caused mostly by the increase of the green house gases like Carbon-di-oxide and methane in atmosphere. By accumulating in the atmosphere these gas prevent the heat to be radiated away from the earth. This results in an increase in temperature of the earth and melting of the glaciers of the world. The ice in Antarctica is melting rapidly and glaciers are breaking up fast. Scientist thus foresee a rise in the level of water by several meters which would cause many islands and coastal regions to be erased from the map. India would be hit hard as the source of Ganga-Gangotri glacier would run dry in another fifty years and the Ganga might cease to flow. What needs to be done immediately is to generate awareness on a global scale, so that people all over the world became conscious of the impending threat and take measures to prevent global warming. Reduction in the emission of harmful green house gases, especially those that harm the ozone layer, like carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide is imperative. Plantation of trees on a massive scale all over the world is a necessity as trees remove carbon-di-oxide from the atmosphere. Only when such steps are taken can human being survive on earth for a longer period of time.
