 Dear student  today we will learn about Noun . 

NOUN

Definition:- Noun is the name of person, place or things.

Types:-  There are 5 types of Noun. They are
  1. Proper Noun
  2. Common Noun
  3. Collective Noun
  4. Material Noun
  5. Abstract Noun

1. Proper Noun :- 

     Proper noun is the name of a particular person, place or things.
E.g : Ram, Delhi, Geeta Etc.
       a) Ram is my friend.
           b) I live in Delhi.

2. Common Noun:-

    Common noun is the name of given given in common to every person or things of the same class or kind.
E.g:- Boy, City, Country Etc.
        a) According to the boy, the nearest town is very far.
           b) The boys are going to nearest village

3. Collective Noun :- 

    A collective noun is the name of a number (or collection) of person or things taken together and spoken of as a whole.
        Usually collective noun is used as singular. They can be used as plural if there is  division among the members of the collective noun or the member are being talked about.
E.g:- Team, Committee, Army, Jury Etc.
        a) The flock of geese spends most of its time in the pasture.

4. Material Noun:- 

        A material noun is the name of substances, an ingredient or material that we can touch and see.
E.g:- Gold, Water, Iron
        a) Water is colorless.
       b) The table is made of iron.

5. Abstract Noun:-

        An abstract noun refers to  intangible things, like, feelings, ideals, actions, concepts and qualities you can experience them with your five senses.
E.g:- Beauty, Bravely, Charity
        a) Childhood memories are source of great joy.
        b) Music can change your mood.

Important Rules of Noun

Rule No. 1 :- 
                    Certain noun exist in plural forms only. Thus "S"
 cannot be removed from such nouns to make them singular. They take plural verb with them.
E.g:- Scissors, Pliers, bellows, goggles, archives etc.
          a) Where are my pants
           b) All his assets were seized.

Rule No. 2:- 
                       News, Innings, Politics, Summons, Physics, Mumps, Economics, Ethics, Mathematics, Measles, Shingles, Athletics, Linguistics are certain nouns that are plural in form but singular in meaning. They take singular verb.
E.g:-
        a) No news is good news.
        b) Politics is a dirty game.
        c) Ethics demands honesty.
